THANK YOU!
Here is Your 'HIP LOCK' Practise GuideĀ
Learn to decelerate the rotation of the pelvis to pass energy through your abs - shoulders - arms,Ā and out into the club.
Step 1
Start with an aqua-bag, foam roller, or even just a club, placed across your chest with your arms folded
Step 2
Rotate your chest hard towards the target maintaning side-bend, while at the same time dragging your trail foot straight back in a straight line.
Step 3
Ā Do not let the lead hip externally rotate outwards.Ā You should come to a hard stop and be able to come back to the start position in control.
Step 4
Now take a few practise swings, aiming to swing a club past your lead leg while pulling the trail leg behind, as in the previous steps. Then a hit with the same slide of the trail leg behind you.
Step 5
Now have a few swings without sliding the trail leg but feeling the same level of stability through the lead side leg and pelvis. It will likely feel a bit flat-footed to start with but don't worry about that, you will soon learn to sequence the through swing more comfortably with a few reps.
Then hit shots with the feeling of lead leg/hip stability!
NB It is quite a nice feelign to hit shots with the Scheffler tyle trail leeg drag. You may be suprised how straight you hit it.Ā
It goes a long way to dispell the notion that we must 'keep turning' to avoid a flip'.
